What's been happening?

Thanksgiving was fun. We had planned to have our get together at the church, but as luck would have it, someone else claimed that they had reserved the church. We had to return home where we hastily put up tables and just made the most of it. It was a beautiful day outside so Carbon set up the "bounce house" we bought for the grandkids as a surprise. I think everyone had fun and ate lots of food.

Christmas came and went. I went to Amy's to help out with their move. Packed up some of the kitchen, the living room and Shelby's bedroom. Helped Amy to finish painting her kitchen. Why is it we do things that we would have liked when we are leaving a place? Her kitchen looks really nice with the cabinets and newly painted walls. We had everyone who lives here, the kids and grandkids stop by for Christmas. Carbon was at work most of the day, but it was good to see everyone and to share in the Christmas joys. Can you believe all those stockings?

The Anniversary Party

Carbon wanted to do something for our anniversary. If we went to say the Anniversary Inn, that would be just us, so he thought about our family and decided to have all the kids, and grandkids that live here come over for a party. We had pizza and a yummy chocolate pie. You can see by the picture that we also got a Wii balance board. Now I have no excuse not to exercise! Thanks everyone, it was a great surprise!
Carbon also played the song "The Last Touch". It made some of us cry. It is a beautiful song about knowing what love is. I guess after so many years, the love is there in so many ways. Thanks Carbon for a great party.

The Rainy...California Trip

Carbon and I went to California to visit my parents and Amy, Jeremy and Shelby. We had a great time, although somewhat wet trip. It rained almost all the time that we were there.

Jeremy Graduated from the Highway Patrol Academy and we were able to watch his graduation. Congratulations Jeremy and hope for a long and successful career to you.

Welcome Colton Leon Cotner

Will and Diana are the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy. Colton Leon Cotner arrived at 5:36 pm Saturday October 18, 2008 and weighing in at 8 lbs, 21 inches. Mom, dad and baby are doing fine. I think Will is going to have a fun time being a dad. He sure is proud of his little boy. Diana did great, her doctor said she has bragging rights because for a first baby she only pushed for 10-15 minutes. Congratulations to them.

Baby Update

Well, Diana is still awaiting the birth of her baby. We are anxiously awaiting with her. Seems if she doesn't have the baby by Saturday, they will induce. We are hoping that the little guy arrives soon and is healthy.

Jacob is doing good. He has gained a couple of ounces and after a second round of heart drugs to close the duct in his heart, which was unsuccessful, they will be doing surgery on Friday. This is very scary to Sarah and all of us, but putting it off will not make him any better. Please continue to keep them in your prayers.

A New Grandson

Last Tuesday we had an unexpected surprise. Sarah, who was expecting a baby in January, gave birth to a tiny 1 lb, 8 oz baby boy. They named him Jacob Nethaniel Skollingsberg. For being so early and small he is doing very well. This grandma is very grateful for the technology that will help to keep him healthy and growing for the next 3 months. Please join with us as we keep him in our prayers and thoughts.

We are anxiously awaiting another grandson. Diana and Will are close to their due date and we hope that all goes well with them. We'll keep you posted on all the news to come.

My Garden Runneth Over

Well, tis the season for the harvest and I have been busy canning. Salsa is what I have been making. I canned another 21 jars last night to add to the 27 I did a few weeks ago. Guess what? I still have tomatoes. Any one want some?

I also have had an abundance of cantalope. Picked another 7. I love cantalope, but enough is enough. I have started taking them to school to give away. The watermelon is just ripe now too, and I had 7 of them. I may need to take some of them to school to give away too.

I'm not complaining, we have had an amazing amount of food out of our garden. I think of all the dollars saved by not having to buy fruits and veggies at the store. And on the plus side, they are so fresh right out of the garden. I wonder if my success was due to Emily's sprinkling of the mysterious fertilizer? Could be.

Hey, I'm Blogging

Diana came over and finally showed me, I'm not very technical, how to start a blog. I should probably say a little about us.
Carbon and I were married in November of 1974. We have six wonderful children, four girls and two boys. We moved to Utah in 1977 and have lived here since then. Carbon works for IHC and I work at a local elementary school as a reading aide.
All of our Children married within a 6 year period so I became an expert at being, mother of the bride and mother of the groom.
Sarah and Jason are the oldest couple, they have 4 children and are expecting #5 in January. Carl and Linda are next, they have 2 children. Then there is Amy and Jeremy, who live in California, with one little girl. Next is Alan and Jenny who have one little girl also. Then comes Diana and Will who are expecting their first soon. Last is Emily and Kelly who have one little boy.
